Find your way around
These instructions are reviewed against the app source. Final-installer walkthroughs are still pending. Check platform availability and requirements before installing. Windows is an updates list, outside the 1,000 beta places.
Locate your page, select a layer, and check where your next edit will apply.
Before you start
Open a local project in the English interface. If you have no project yet, follow Create your first website.
Explore the workspace
- Open Pages and choose a page. Websites use pages; native app designs use screens. A component has its own editing surface.
- Open Layers to see the structure of the current surface. Select a text layer or frame there to locate it on the canvas.
- Open Design to inspect the selection. Its controls change with the selected layer: a text layer exposes typography, while a frame exposes layout controls.
- Check Active frame before changing a property. The Primary frame supplies inherited values; a secondary breakpoint can have its own overrides.
- Use View → Zoom to fit to bring the work into view. Zoom changes your view of the canvas, not the exported dimensions.
- Open View → Keyboard shortcuts to find commands for your current platform.
Assets holds project media and fonts, Components holds reusable elements, and Tokens holds shared design values. Publish contains both local website export and remote destinations. Choosing a local export does not require a hosting account.
Check your result
Select a layer in Layers, find the same selection on the canvas, and identify its properties in Design. You should also be able to name the active frame before making an edit.
Common problems
- No properties appear: select a layer on the canvas or in Layers.
- An edit affects the wrong size: inspect Active frame and the override indicator before continuing. Use Edit → Undo if needed.
- A sketch does not appear in export: the free canvas and Playground are not published. Put website content inside its page frame.
- Dark app chrome changes but the page does not: app appearance and project color modes are separate controls.
