Which processor is yours?

Run uname -m in your terminal: x86_64 means x64 (Intel or AMD); aarch64 means ARM64. These are Linux packages, not installers for Intel Macs or Apple Silicon macOS.

Debian package · recommended

Open the matching .deb in your software manager, or install from the directory containing the download:

sudo apt install ./MODO-0.1.0-alpha.3-linux-amd64.deb

On ARM64, use MODO-0.1.0-alpha.3-linux-arm64.deb. The package installs the launcher, sandbox helper and inmodo:// link association. Open MODO from your applications.

AppImage · portable alternative

Requires FUSE3 (fusermount3) and a system that permits Chromium’s user-namespace sandbox. Keep the sandbox enabled; do not use --no-sandbox.

chmod +x MODO-0.1.0-alpha.3-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./MODO-0.1.0-alpha.3-linux-x86_64.AppImage

On ARM64, replace the filename with MODO-0.1.0-alpha.3-linux-arm64.AppImage. The portable AppImage does not automatically register a launcher or browser protocol.

One email. Your workspace.

  1. Join the beta using the email you will enter in MODO. A download alone does not grant access.
  2. Open MODO online and request a sign-in link using that same email. Check Spam or Junk.
  3. Open the latest email, choose Confirm sign-in, then return to the waiting app. Switch back manually if your browser cannot open MODO.
  4. Keep your system keyring unlocked. After successful activation, create, edit, save and reopen local projects offline.

The link expires after ten minutes. Signing out, a new computer or a new profile needs online activation again. There is no automatic updater in this alpha. Close MODO before replacing the package and keep a portable .modo copy of important work.

The bundled offline Help is an earlier edition; use these Linux installation notes for this release. Report an issue keeps drafts locally when the window closes; nothing is sent until you review and submit.
